Safe here, on our peninsula

Well as some of you may have seen over the news as of late, Brisbane is having just a couple of issues with regard to the Brisbane River breaking it's banks and inundating a great deal of the surrounding suburbs.

Luckily up on the Redcliffe Peninsula we've copped a little bit of local flash flooding due to rain, but have been fortunate enough to not receive any of the crazy peaks of the Brisbane River or the canals/creeks that run off it.

We returned to work on Thursday for all of about 5 hours before hearing that the Gateway Mwy was starting to go under around Bracken Ridge and that the Deagon Deviation could possibly be in trouble as well, this was well and truly enough to have us get out of there ant retreat to our Peninsula.

It's quite amazing how quiet things are up here, when across the bay not that far away at all Brisbane is experiencing flood's comparable to that of 1974.

We still remain here on our little Peninsula of serenity, unsure of whether the roads into work have gone under or not, it's hard to find reliable info, but we are taking no chances.

On our peninsula we shall remain.

  1. I know this comment is a little late, but it's amazing to think that last year we were a week away from the massive floods. I was glued to the Skynews for days, with tears constantly for these people. But, the Peninsula was a safe little haven (especially high in Scarborough). Rachel xx

  2. Bec and I really need to get around to updating this blog!

It's crazy to think it was a year ago, people I work with are still struggling through getting their lives back together a year on.

We were so lucky, I hope not to see anything like it again in my life time!
